In recent years, there are three situations that cause teen’s smoking increase. First of all, children see adults even their parents smoke, and they imitate this bad won’t. In fact, children are easy in the habit of aping the grown-ups. When teenagers see their parents buying a box of tobacco, taking one cigarette and smoking, they tend to do the same thing. As the results, they gradually become addicted. Their parents find it hard to give up smoking, and so do them. Secondly, they think smoking is a sign of being “grown-ups”. As a matter of fact, most smokers are adults. Therefore, teens try to smoke to request their parents to recognize their maturity. Moreover, they find smoking make themselves stronger and more confident that they can do anything adults can do. Finally, teenagers are encouraged by their peers. At school and in the neighborhood, they have many friends. Some are good but some are not, and these bad friends have a damaging impact on the child. Consequently, the children follow and pick up the habit of smoking with the thought that non-smokers are out of date. In short, adults should concern about these factors above to prevent their children from being addicted to tobacco.
Among team sports, volleyball and football are different in terms of playing time, players and the score. The first difference lies in the required time for each match. In a football match, the total playing time is ninety minutes, which is divided in to two forty five halves. However, there is no definite amount of time for a volleyball match. The match stops when one team wins three out of the maximum five sets. Secondly, football differs from volleyball in respect to players. In football, each team consists of a maximum of eleven players, one of whom must be the goalkeeper. In fact, goalkeepers are the only player allowed to play the ball with their hands or arms, provided they do so within the penalty area in front of their own goal. Meanwhile, in volleyball, each team always includes six active players. A libero player can join the match or not, which belongs to the team’s tactics. Finally, football contrasts with volleyball in regard to the score. All the players in football match except for the goalkeeper usually use their feet to kick the ball into the opposing goal to score a point. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the match will win the game. However, in volleyball, points are scored by grounding the ball on the opponent’s court, or when the opponent commits a fault. The first team to reach 25 points will win the set and the first team to win three sets will win the match. In conclusion, each kind of sport has its own features bringing interest to many people.
I believe that only good learners should have a chance to get higher education for two reasons. In the first place, higher education is very expensive. It costs a lot of money to give higher education to everyone. It might seem like a waste of money to send a mediocre to college. According to the statistics of ministry of training and education, university education takes 60% of education budget. Besides, the poor can not always afford to support their off springs at college or higher levels. Secondly, many students can not pass the entrance examination to enter the university. They do not have ability to continue studying. In addition, higher education is also a big investment of time. Therefore, these students had better spend their time getting a job or going to trade school. In fact, many people can earn much money only with their high-school diploma. Those who disagree with this opinion would argue that every person should have the chance to get a higher degree, gain new knowledge and experience. This is partially true; but only small number of people can catch up with university syllabus. Overall, it is important that higher education be limited to good students.
More people smoke nowadays. Smoking benefits people by helping them reduce stress and concentrate more on their work. However, it should be banned completely because of its harmfulness in both health and economic aspects are incontestable.
In term of health, smoking has led to many problems not only for individuals but also for the community. For individuals, heavy smokers are likely to suffer plenty of several diseases such as lung cancer or throat cancer. It is also believed that each cigarette might shorten life-span by 5 minutes. Even worse, when smoking in public places, people surrounding are badly affected. According to the scientists, secondhand smokers have to suffer higher risks than the smokers themselves. It is really problematic.
In term of economy, the cost of smoking is enormous. Every year, smoking takes smokers all over the world billions dollars to buy cigarettes. Other billions are spent on the health services to cure the diseases caused by smoking. Furthermore, most of the smokers are in the age of working, they contribute greatly to the economy of the country. Hence, by reducing their health and their ability of working, smoking seems to have a negative impact on the development of the country.
In conclusion, although the advantages of smoking are acknowledged, damages caused by smoking are significant and seem to outweigh the positive side. Consequently, appropriate legislation should be introduced to completely ban smoking. However, this process should be done gradually in order to minimize any side-effects.
